To make copper bars in Stardead Valley, you're gonna need a furnace first. Once you've got that, just throw in 5 copper ore and one piece of coal. Give it a bit of time, and boom - you've got yourself a shiny copper bar. Don't forget, mining for copper ore in the mines is the best way to find the materials you need!
