You don't actually make squid ink in Stardew Valley; instead, you gotta fish for squids during winter nights at the ocean and hope they drop some ink after you catch them. Or, keep an eye on those squid kids in the mines, they can drop ink too!

Fishing in winter nights for squids has never failed me. Last year, got enough ink to dye half of Pelican Town! Squid kids in the mines are an underrated source, too. Don't sleep on it!
