A lot of folks get this wrong, but here's the deal from someone who's played too much - the placement is crucial. You need 8 free tiles around your tree sapling, no debate. If anything's in those tiles, even grass, your tree won't grow. I tried squeezing them in too close to my coop, and yep, they don鈥檛 grow. Keep it spacious!
Placing fruit trees in Stardew Valley is pretty straightforward but requires some planning. First off, make sure you've got an open area, because these trees need space. You gotta plant them in the center of a 3x3 grid, meaning no objects or other trees can be in the adjacent 8 tiles next to your sapling. Also, remember, fruit trees can be planted any season and take a full 28 days to mature, so plan ahead! Patience is key, and make sure to keep that area clear of debris and weeds.
