How to Put Bait on a Fishing Rod in Stardew Valley
First things first, make sure you've got a fishing rod that can actually use bait! The Bamboo Pole won't do the trick. You'll need to upgrade to at least the Fiberglass Rod, which you can snag from Willy's Fish Shop after you've done a bit of fishing. Got your rod? Great! Now, just open your inventory, pick up the bait (left-click or tap and hold, depending on your device), and then click or tap on the rod. Voilà! Bait attached and you're ready to catch some fish.

First off, you gotta make sure you're not trying to put bait on the basic rod! You need the Fiberglass Rod or the Iridium Rod, buddy. Just open your inventory, pick up the bait (left-click or press A/X depending on your device), then hover over the rod and right-click or press Y/Triangle. Viola! Baited!
lol, just drag the bait to the rod dude. But remember, the basic rod won't do. Upgrade!
Just to throw something out there - sometimes, no bait is the best bait. Embrace the simple joy of fishing with the Bamboo Pole. No complications, just you and nature.
Pro tip: only the Fiberglass and Iridium rods can use bait. Right-click with bait selected over the rod in your inventory. Easy peasy.
