You can't just slap a bobber on any old rod. Make sure you've upgraded to the Iridium Rod. After that, it's easy. Pick the bobber from your inventory, and apply it directly to the rod. No sweat!

Bobber? Iridium Rod is where it's at. Don't bother until you upgrade!

To attach a bobber to your fishing pole in Stardew Valley for the Switch, first make sure you've got the Iridium Rod, because that's the only rod that allows attachments. Then, open your inventory, select the bobber, and with the bobber selected, click on the rod. Bam! You're set to catch some big ones.

Honestly, fishing in Stardew is better without the fuss of bobbers and such. Just enjoy the simplicity!
