I always start by checking out frame data charts or guides for my character. It'll show you what's safe or punishable by counting the frames.
Just count the black frames and white frames after each move in the practice mode frame data display.
Frame data in Tekken is easier than it sounds. Just look for how long a move takes to execute and its recovery time. Enjoy the game!
