In Retro Bowl, you can't really stop the action during gameplay since it’s continuous. Just play it out! But you can pause by hitting the menu button.

Nope, you can’t stop the gameplay mid-action. Just gotta keep on rolling!

From my experience, there's no stop button during the game. You can only pause it. Just hit that menu button anytime!
