Unlocking areas in Stardew Valley is all about progression and sometimes, paying some Gold. For example, to access the Mines, you just need to clear the blocked-off cave on the northeast of the Forest. For the Quarry, you need to complete the Bridge Repair bundle in the Community Center or purchase the Joja Community Development Form if you go the JojaMart route. The desert becomes accessible after repairing the bus, which can be done by completing the Vault bundle in the Community Center or again, through JojaMart. And let's not forget about the Sewers, which require the Rusty Key, obtained by donating enough artifacts to the museum. Happy farming and unlocking!
