I remember using equipped items by pressing the button combo assigned to them in the customization screen. Sometimes it was a life-saver!
Sometimes, equipped items are only cosmetic. If it doesn't do anything special, it might just be for show!
You gotta equip the item first in the customization menu. Once you're in a match, use the assigned button to activate it.
If you can't use an item, make sure it's not just a costume piece. Some items are just for style!
