When I first sailed in Valheim, I learned the hard way that you need to keep an eye on the wind direction. Keep your sail angled just right and you'll cruise through those Viking seas like a pro!
Make sure the wind icon on the HUD is in a good direction before you try to sail, or you'll just be paddling!
Just press 'W' to raise the sails and 'S' to lower them. Don't fight the wind and you'll be fine.
Honestly, learn how to read the wind better. Don't waste time trying to sail against it.
