To use bait in Stardew Valley, first make sure you've upgraded your fishing pole to at least the Fiberglass Rod since the basic Bamboo Pole can't be used with bait. Right-click or tap (depending on your platform) on the bait in your inventory, then left-click or tap on the rod. Voila! Your rod is now baited, and you're ready to catch some fish faster than before.

Honestly, just buy the Fiberglass Rod or better yet, the Iridium Rod. You can attach bait and even tackle to the Iridium Rod. Drag your bait over to the rod in your inventory screen, and you're all set. Happy fishing!

Just drag and drop the bait onto your fishing rod in your inventory. Make sure you're not trying to apply it to the Bamboo Pole though, because that old stick doesn't support bait. Upgraded rods only!

All you need is an upgraded fishing rod. Then, clicking bait with one button and your rod with another combines them. Easy peasy.
