It's a mixed bag. Some stalls are super clean, but others can be a bit sketchy. Personally, I've never had a problem, and the rewards are tasty!
Totally overblown! As long as you choose popular and busy stalls, you should be fine. I've eaten street food all over India without any issues.
It depends on where you get it! Some vendors are very clean, while others, not so much. Use your judgment and look for stalls with lots of local customers.
