Lincoln grew up in a time where racist attitudes were common, and while he personally disliked slavery, some of his early views on race seem outdated now. He evolved drastically, however, and his actions, particularly the Emancipation Proclamation, show he was committed to ending slavery.

Abe wasn鈥檛 perfect. He had his flaws and some of his early speeches had racist tones. But actions speak louder than words, and he鈥檚 a hero for pushing to end slavery.

While some of his views were problematic, his legacy as a leader and abolisher of slavery can't be ignored.
