Gray hearts in Stardew Valley signify the non-romanceable townspeople and also indicate the maximum friendship level you can achieve with certain marriage candidates before giving them a Bouquet to indicate your romantic interest. So, it's like a friendship meter for everyone, but it hits a pause for potential partners until you make it clear you wanna go from friends to more-than-friends.

Gray hearts = not dateable. If you're seeing gray hearts next to someone's name, it means they're off the market for love but not friendship. Also, for the love interests, it's the game's way of saying, "You're here, but you gotta step up your game if you wanna see those hearts turn purple again."

It's a block! Those gray hearts mean you鈥檝e maxed out friendship points with a character that can't be romanced or you haven't taken the next step with a romanceable character. Kinda like life, showing you where you can invest more effort or just appreciate the platonic vibe.

If you're a Stardew Valley player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

That includes gift cards from all of your favorite gaming platforms, like PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam and more... which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
