In Stardew Valley, you feed your chickens either with hay, which you can get from cutting grass on your farm or buying from Marnie's Ranch, or by letting them outside to eat grass in nice weather. Make sure you have a silo to store all that hay for winter!

Chickens in Stardew love to snack on hay or fresh grass. If it's rainy or winter and the outdoors is a no-go, stock up on hay and fill the coop's feeding bench.

Just let them outside, they'll handle the rest munching on grass. Saves a ton of Gold on hay.
