When Silas lives, the infected characters stay werewolves, and your ending's probably going to be a bit more on the wild side.
Don't kill Silas, and you'll leave the werewolf curse intact. It's not a good look for our camp counselors.
I didn't kill Silas on my first playthrough, and let's just say, it made for a very interesting, and hairy, ending!
Not killing Silas means the curse sticks around. Simple as that.
