Gotta say, the Lava Katana is my top pick before you snag the Galaxy Sword. Solid damage and it looks cool. Not as strong as the Galaxy Sword, but it's easier to get your hands on early in the game.

IMO, Galaxy Sword is the way to go. It's the most powerful weapon in Stardew Valley, dealing massive damage to those pesky monsters in the mines. You'll need a Prismatic Shard to get it, but trust me, it's worth the hustle.
