You gotta give the Sand Dragon its last meal, which sounds pretty ominous, but it's just a Solar Essence. Walk up to the dragon in the Calico Desert, and hand it over. No dragons were harmed in the making of this quest, I promise!

Tried and tested! Gave the Sand Dragon a Solar Essence and voila, it's happy. It's part of a quest, so make sure you've got one in your inventory before you head to the Calico Desert.
