Trains in Stardew Valley are pretty random, but they usually start appearing after you get the message 'A train is passing through Stardew Valley' on the TV. It happens after you've repaired the Community Center or Joja Warehouse. No set schedule, so keep an eye out for that message!

Trains? They're more like a surprise feature, not on any schedule. If you're farming or mining and hear a train whistle, drop everything and run to the tracks! You might find some cool stuff dropped by the passing train.
