Catfish in Stardew Valley are a slippery catch! You'll find them swimming in the river (in Pelican Town and Cindersap Forest) and in the Secret Woods pond but only when it's raining. Good luck with Catfish; they're tricky! They only show up in the rain and you won't find them in Winter or Summer. Stick to Spring and Fall, and make sure you're checking the rivers and the Secret Woods. They put up a good fight, so be ready for a challenge!
Catfish are overrated. Just fish for easier catches and make your life simpler. Stardew's got plenty of other fish in the sea...or river in this case.
Actually, I caught my first Catfish in the river during a Spring downpour. They're tough to reel in but totally worth the effort for that Community Center bundle. Make sure you have a good rod and plenty of patience!
