If all else fails, reinstalling the game often fixes weird bugs. Sounds drastic, but it works!
Check if your game is lagging. Sometimes, lag can mess with tower selection. Try restarting or checking your internet connection!
In my experience, this happens if you haven't equipped your towers in the loadout menu before starting a game. Double-check that first!
