Tekken Tag 2 didn't fail because it's a bad game, it just came out at a time when fighting games were less popular. It had solid mechanics but missed out on the new-gen console wave.
As a longtime Tekken player, Tekken Tag 2 was great, but maybe a bit too complex for casual gamers. The lack of gritty realism that newer fighting games had also made it seem dated.
Hot take: It didn't fail. It delivered exactly what Tekken fans wanted鈥攁 tag team system and tons of characters. Just couldn't draw in new players.
