It's mainly because the game is still in early access, and continuous updates mean performance optimization is a work in progress.
Valheim's procedurally generated world and detailed environments can be a bit taxing on certain PCs. Try adjusting settings for smoother gameplay!
From my experience, turning down the draw distance helps a lot. My rig went from choppy waters to smooth sailing!
