The Ascent is set in a dense urban environment to create a rich cyberpunk atmosphere. Open country would ruin the vibe!

Because The Ascent thrives on its gritty, neon-lit cityscapes and megacorporation ruled dystopia. Open country just doesn鈥檛 scream cyberpunk!
The devs wanted to offer a specific cyberpunk experience, which means urban chaos over wide-open spaces.
Ever tried hacking a megacorporation from a wheat field? Doesn't exactly fit the theme.
